Garba is a master storyteller with more than 60 years of life experience using dialogue to connect people across cultures. He has shared stories in 8 languages, travelled to more than 85 countries, and spent decades creating spaces for conversation in classrooms, refugee camps, parliaments, and communities around the world.
In 1999, Garba founded the Copenhagen-based NGO Crossing Borders with a simple philosophy: storytelling and dialogue can make the world more connected. Originally from a nomadic culture in West Africa, Garba has spent his life crossing borders both physically and culturally, always driven by curiosity about people and how we understand one another.
About Dinner
Over a homemade meal in his home in Humlebæk, Garba will begin by sharing stories from his extraordinary life: growing up as a cowboy in Mauritania, travelling across continents, founding Crossing Borders, and building a life in Denmark.
But this evening is not only about listening. Garba believes everyone has a story to tell. Through conversation around the table, guests are invited to reflect on their own experiences, learn how stories shape the way we see ourselves and others, and discover how storytelling can become a tool for connection, confidence, and understanding.
