With over 50 years of experience building community across cultures, Nadia has lived a life shaped by daring – daring to do things her own way, going beyond cultural expectations, and building her own way of belonging in Denmark.
Born in Cairo, Nadia moved to Europe in her early twenties. Along the way she learned Danish in one year, adopted children at a time when it was uncommon in her community, and built a social life from scratch: starting women’s gatherings, sports groups, and language circles.
Nadia is someone who does not wait to be invited in – she creates the space. As she says: “You can make it in Denmark, but you have to give the first hand.”
She is living proof of her own philosophy: over 30 years ago, she gathered a small group of women for tennis – and to this day, they still meet every Wednesday to play, share dinner, and talk late into the evening.
For Nadia, curiosity, continuity, and openness are the foundations of a good life. She has always found her own way through challenges and change by daring to be herself – fully, openly, and without apology.
