Gillian was born in Guyana and now lives in Aarhus. She brings both her South American roots and more than 40 years of experience from different continents with her to the dinner table.
Guyana is known as a melting pot of cultures - indigenous, Indian, African, Chinese and European - and the country's food reflects that mix. Gillian grew up learning how to make dishes from different traditions, from curries and noodles to pepper pot, the beloved cassava stew of her native heritage.
Gillian has covered many areas in her life: from studies in chemical engineering and teaching to volunteering and advocating for women's health. She is deeply curious about philosophy, politics and the world. Warm and welcoming, Gillian has always loved being a host -- once she dreamed of opening a cafe to share the Caribbean hospitality.
